Decide whether SondelAuditBot can read your site.
Review what the public help-centre audit can read, its crawl limits, and how to block your site.
Current status and setup
Sondel operates a free help-centre audit at app.sondel.cx/audit. It uses SondelAuditBot/1.0 (+https://sondel.cx/audit-crawler) and is separate from the tenant knowledge crawler. A temporary pause can stop new audit starts. It does not change these crawl limits or site controls.
- Submitted location
- A public HTTP or HTTPS host and path. The crawler uses ports 80 and 443.
- Access boundary
- The crawler does not log in, work around a bot block, or read outside the submitted host and path.
- Site control
- Your robots.txt rules and direct block requests decide whether the crawler may read the site.
Crawl limits can produce a partial result
The audit reads at most 100 pages, 10 MiB in total, and 1 MiB per page. The crawl stops after 120 seconds or at depth three.
It uses one connection per host and waits at least one second between page reads. A longer robots.txt Crawl-delay takes priority, so a delay can consume the run time limit. It checks robots.txt first and refuses an unreadable or incomplete robots file.
Block audits in robots.txt
User-agent: SondelAuditBot
Disallow: /This blocks the audit crawler. Keep any separate rules for other crawlers. A partial path block excludes those pages from the audit.
Ask Sondel to block your host
Email hello@sondel.cx with the public host you want blocked. You do not need to prove control to request a block. Removing a block requires proof of control. Sondel does not publish visitor reports or use audit content in tenant knowledge or model training.
Request a domain block.
Read the audit data and retention details before you request an audit.
